The first thing I do to prepare this popular longhorn steakhouse broccoli recipe is wash it under running cool water. I then dry it well with paper towel.
Then, using a sharp knife and cutting board, cut the broccoli head or broccoli crown into smaller pieces. You can leave the stems longer or shorter. Whichever you would prefer.
In a large skillet, cover the bottom with about three fourths of a cup of water.
Place the broccoli in the large skillet and bring water to a boil over medium heat.
Cover tightly and steam for approximately eight minutes.
Turn off the heat, drain the water and return skillet to the stove top.
Add the butter, pepper and garlic powder and toss well.
Serve and enjoy.
Refrigerate or freeze any leftovers.
